Session 8: Closing Plenary–50 Forward: Urbanism for the Future
30 October 2019
4:00 PM – 5:35 PM
As we already occupy a predominantly urban planet, any substantive discussion about cities is essentially a discussion about the future of human habitation on Earth. Unquestionably, great challenges await us in the next 50 years, and these demands the most inventive, creative thinking we can put into motion. The design and planning solutions that are likely to be most effective are those that approach the scale and scope of the problems we face, such as displacement, inequality, environmental degradation, and resource scarcity. In this closing session, three presenters with extensive front-line experience in city-making line out inspiring visions of where a responsive, responsible, and accommodating urbanism can take us.
