Session 6F: Seminal Asian Icons, Today
30 October 2019
11:30 AM – 1:00 PM
The turn of the Millennium heralded the beginning of what has come to be called “the Asian Century,” as nations along Pacific Rim rose to prominence, their ascent telegraphed by their burgeoning skylines. The notoriety that the Petronas Towers, TAIPEI 101 and International Commerce Centre earned for Kuala Lumpur, Taipei and Hong Kong was superlative at the time these buildings were completed in 1998, 2004 and 2010, respectively. Equally significant have been the subsequent efforts to maintain these buildings’ reputations as desirable addresses well after inauguration. Each has a story of continuous improvement remarkable in its scale and instructive in its effectiveness. Hear them all in one session, from the leaders who have maintained their icons’ respective legacies.
